Petrol engine – advantages and use
Petrol engines are lighter, cheaper to buy and quieter in operation. They are easier to start, and servicing is simpler and cheaper. It's a good choice for a garden, a smaller plot and seasonal work, when the machine doesn't run for many hours every day.
Diesel engine – when does it pay off?
Diesel offers more torque at low revs, so it handles heavy work better – ploughing, transport, working with attachments under load. It also uses less fuel. The higher purchase price pays off with intensive, daily use on a larger farm.
